Silver Failure

Topic: LovePoetry

Come in second once again. I've lost to this unknown man.
He follows you around like a puppy with his boy. But obviously, he's no toy.
Hand in hand like some silver chain, I see you outside laughing in the rain.
Together, everywhere, it should have been me. But again, I see it wasn't meant to be.
You've found your's but I'll keep looking. My eyes are old, and have started blurring.
Why couldn't you have just picked me? Your golden medal would look better on me.
Silver was meant for the the unknown man. He wears it well, as best as he can.
I've trained so long just for the day that I could just walk up to you and say,
"Hi. How are you?" and of course you'd reply with, "Fine. How about you?"
And our conversation would go on and on, until of course your heart was won.
Not by the unknown man, but by your's truly, because I've needed this since the day you blew me
away, the day I first laid eyes upon you. Somehow I knew I would have to fight for you.
Because there's not many like you in this world, so it's like winning the lottery if you were my girl.
But I never hit the jackpot, because I never played. So now my time with you has been delayed,
Until the day you realize you're with the wrong guy. You see, if you were mine, I'd try
Harder to impress you from day to day. Unbreakable is my love for you, nothing gets in the way.
Why do I even bother? I should be happy with second place. But I can't get your beautiful face
Out of my head, of dreams for that matter. If you're ever hungry, my love's on a silver platter.
It's ready to be eaten, prepared to be consumed. But the only one who can eat it, is you.
You're the only one I ever want to feed. And I'm the only one you'll ever need.
When will the day come that we'll meet? In my head, that day will repeat.
Over and over the day will be seen, but could someone just wake me from my wasteful dream.
