Glad To Have Known You

Contributed by Tiger018 on Wednesday, 15th June 2005 @ 08:40:24 PM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

Today we bid a fond farewell; we soon must part awhile.
I shall miss your pleasant ways; your warm and cheering smile.
And yet I have no fear of loss, my good and dearest friend;
For time and space may come between but memories will not end.
Our bond is deep and strong and sure and will not quickly fade;
Our faith and trust will long endure, of this is friendship made.

In the quiet shade of evening or the subtle light of dawn;
In the ripple of the water by the brook that rushes on.
In the beauty of the flowers, the tall and stately trees;
And the whisper in the meadow of the soft and gentle breeze.

I shall feel your wholesome presence, your thoughts so kind and true;
They will flood across my consciousness, reminding me of you.
I will see your face, your heart and soul in all the changing scenes
And be glad that I have known you and shared your hopes and dreams.
I will think of all your gracious help, your understanding ways;
Your true and loyal efforts that were meant to cheer my days.

This cruel world may often claim the things we treasure so,
But love and friendship will remain; they come from God you know.
And should we wander far apart, to never meet again;
You, my friend, will always be... remembered, still, within.
