Winter's Dirge

Contributed by bobotheclown on Wednesday, 15th June 2005 @ 11:18:06 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Bathed in shadows that lie
dead before my feet.
Lonely hands rise from nowhere
Attached to wrists torn to pieces
Countless times by weakness
Ambition, dead, (like my heart)
Floating with the winds of sadness
Lost for days
Tumbling in the vortex of insanity
Numbed by alcoholism,
Yet the tears still flow inside
My mouth is dry and my head hurts
Frustration rears her ugly head
And wraps me in burial shrouds
Whispering words of encouragement
(That in the end amount to nothing)
Stagnant, like the passage of time

I rise from these ashes
Triumphant, only to find
I have gained nothing

These "thoughts" take hold
Thoughts that once soothed
With pleasant feelings and reassurances,
But now rise like bitter bile
Forced to choke back the tears
My face a stony mask of silence
Set with determination
And lined with years of pain
(Lighting candles to remember the torment)
Blinking back tears because of your senseless cruelty
The wounds you inflicted lie deep
Leaving my heart cold and dormant
I've walked this path to many times to feel
Anything but the pervading emptiness
There remains some comfort in silence,
But I can't take this much longer
Lying beside my broken, cold heart

I rise from these frozen ashes
Triumphant, only to find
I have gained nothing

Holy cow!

What was that about this sucking? You're kidding, right? You should be.

I like this, it's very descriptive and well written. I seems hollow in some ways, but incredibly full of feeling in others.

I especially like this part:

I rise from these frozen ashes
Triumphant, only to find
I have gained nothing

Great write,
*hugs* Phil xxx

Joel that was really good. That one hit me. I guess cause I feel
so similar lately. Awesome write, you really caught the pain and had
images that just tear at my heart. You rock my socks off man.

Well, I felt the emotion infusing this piece. It is a true lyric - words from the heart, well and gracefully told. Yes, it is.

May your road rise up.

Andrew
(smiling at the author's note and thinking now this is what I should have said on that poem's note. and that one.... Slàn)

Oh, my dear friend, when did ANY of your poems suck?? Not once, in my book, lol. A thought-provoking, heart-wrenching, tear-jerking masterpiece, cheri.. All woven by your golden pen. Magnificent and beautiful in its somber tune... An overwhelming torrent of helplessness and anguish drowned me... crashing over my head whenever I thought I could take a breath... I found myself slowly dying as you sank into your seemingly bottomless pit of nothingness and shame... Deliciously morbid and radiantly vivid... You never fail to impress and inspire. Thanks so much for this exquisite piece of poetic art, mon cheri Joel! LOVED IT! Hoping all is well. Miss you! *hugs*. All my love. Forever,

Your dear friend/avid fan,

~*Stephy*~

Sucks? Lol, I think you're a little confused Joel ;] j/k. Truly, though. Awesome, awesome, awesome piece. If I had 1/5th of your talent I'd be happy. You're an amazing writer.

Your poetry is dramatic, incredible and often leaves me speechless.

Good to see you writing again Bo.
