What does it mean when painkillers don't numb the pain, Loneliness creeps into your heart, Tightening its grasp, Sapping the happiness from you, Even if it's just a fleeting moment in a euphoric day, Reaching for a love that doesn't exist, A love never known, A love only to be conceived in the brain, Yet its absence is felt in the depths of your soul, The very being is rocked from its foundation, No matter how sturdy the faux felicity is, Its structure will crumble, Even if the outside is oblivious to your anguish, You will rebuild the ruins, For you are a master mason of hollow feelings, No matter how cracked the bricks are, This brief encounter with reality will scar your naive view of life, Like it has every time before, So short, so swift, so strong, The longest ten minutes in ones life.
