Heaven's Key

Contributed by HoPeFuLtKn on Monday, 20th June 2005 @ 05:11:19 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Mommy why do you cry so dear?
Why do you continuously cry that tear?
Is it because of daddy's hard hand?
To him, you obey every command.

Last night I heard you talking,
To you pleaded while you were walking.
You said "Please, God, don't let him hurt her."
"With one strike, she'll be gone, for sure."

My Mommy went to heaven the night after that,
I have nothing of hers but that beat up welcome mat.
My daddy threw it all in the gutter,
Leaving me in shock and shudder.

They took my daddy to jail,
A man in a robe said "There'll be no bail."
Daddy yelled and said it was my fault he'll deal,
It was his fault for all that mommy had to feel.

I saw my new mommy and daddy today,
They never let me have fun or play.
When they leave I'm left in a dark, locked closet,
Before going they leave me food in a small deposit.

Each time I sit in the cold corner with no light,
I pray to God that he gives me might.
They've never given me a single kiss,
Unlike other children, I don't experience bliss.

The spider in the corner is my only friend,
It talks to me and gives me strength to lend.
Behind the door it's so cold, I can't bare,
Why do I have to live like it, it's just not fair!

Time progressed and I turned fourteen years old,
My souls unkind and bitter and cold.
The spider died some time ago, he was my only friend,
My heart, deep within, will never mend.

I went out to visit my Momma's grave the other day,
Sorry, but I cannot accept things to go this way.
Why was I the one who had to pay the price?
I don't think I was given a chance with the dice.

Yesterday I killed myself in that closet where I live,
It'd all be different, if only they had love to give.
My spirit will float up to heaven's gate,
My soul will go to hell, that's just my fate.

Wait for me Momma, will you please?
I've just received haven't keys.
I still don't understand why my life wasn't better,
But I'll bid goodbye in this farewell letter.

~~Yours Truly
