Deep in a coma-like sleep I dream of you
I see your soft salt and pepper hair I see the scar on your forehead I see the sparse hairs on your chest And the smirk of a smile you give back to me
I see you walking toward me And I begin to run Faster and faster until my legs feel uncontrollable I fall into you and cry out Why?
Why did you have to leave me this way? With no way to say goodbye? Why did you leave me all alone? With no one to trust anymore?
You look at me and smile and say It was my time to go I never expected it either or I would have tried to prevent it But God had other plans
You beg me to move on with my life To find love again and to be happy But baby, without you my life is dark and ridden with heartache No reason to go on
But you lift my chin and say Go on Ill be here waiting on you when its your time Go on

A poet who speaks of the sometimes harsh realities of life is a poet who writes from the heart. Not sure that I could let go either, but instead I'd likely hold fast to the dream.
