He was an ugly, trivial man, Poor, and old - very bland - Phil Cavilleri.
Adored a girl who became his bride But all too soon she up and died. Was left alone to be a father, Raised a young and spirited daughter. Said his prayers everyday, From his faith he would not stray. Went to church, attended Mass A role model for his little lass.
Waited, worried, worked some more, What was he truly living for?
Made a living, kept a house Haunted by a departed spouse. Said very little, but meant a lot! Like any man, felt much and thought Wasn't learnd, wasn't cool But rest assured, he was no fool. His Jenny grew, studied hard Her Daddy well did she regard.
Waited, worried, worked some more, What was he truly living for?
Along came Rich Kid, Jen's heart won, Left Phil no choice but to call him "son". Oliver'd asked for one smart wife, The music of her father's life! No wedding bells, no choir's sweet voice, But one knot tied, three hearts rejoiced. Phil trusted, prayed, hoped for the best. Tried to lay his heart to rest. Didn't ask for much at all But paid a frequent, care-filled call.
Waited, worried, worked some more, What was this man truly living for?
Bad tidings came, Jen was ill. Heartrending for our hero Phil! Tender, brave, of silent strength. For family he'd go any length. But Jenny was gone, a bitter dose For the two men who treasured her most! Phil grieved, and sighed, and yes, he wept Though the heart of his character still he kept. He loved, and loved, and loved some more, Is love what he'd been living for? Never showered with its greatest glories, Still love remained to be his story! He was an ugly, trivial man, Poor, and old - very bland,
Phil Cavilleri!
