Hits You All At Once

Contributed by ForeverAndADay on Tuesday, 21st June 2005 @ 07:43:58 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Grey mist.
The death kiss.
Passed on by rotting lips.
In the year of our Lord.

Crushing fingers.
A bleeding soul.
Fragile as words of hope that hang in the air.
Meaningless as advice to "Just hang in there."
Lost as the notes carried down the stairs.
Into the ears of a deaf man.
Then no one remembers what they were.

Pale as death.
As sweet as grief.
Given your best...
It could have been worse...
But it was still enough for me.

In the eye's of the ones that watch their children sink.
Still denying that anything has changed.
People are masters of letting things get into the way.
And letting those crucial signs pass them by...
Without ever seeing a thing.

Cold as ice.
As cruel as life.
As common as any every day thing...
They always said bad things happen in three's.
But the quantity this is coming in is more then you'd believe.
(And it's getting kind of hard to look the other way, you know?)

As shocking as unfortunate news.
And as confusing as having to choose.
As sharp and cool as the blade.
As frustrating as someone holding back for your sake.
Come along for the ride, my friend.
This is the horror we call change.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
