Nova
Smell of hay and horse and some ancient pull on the senses
I could not stay away forever
Making excuses why I could not fly through the air
And you so restless after a long winter
Stomping of your hoof and toss of your head
Ears alert to any sound of spring
I touched you with timid hands
Brushing the mud from your thick winter coat
Pleased that we were becoming friends
I listened to your voice trying to understand
And whispered what a pretty girl you were
The saddle squeaked and groaned
And I found myself high up in the air
Imagining the wind in my hair and sparkle in my eyes
Magical and terrifying, what a long way down it was
The jolting of square hips rocks me back and forth
My bones protest this bumpy ride
But my heart soars with every turn around the ring
I stay here upon my high horse
And the little girl in me is grinning from ear to ear

A beautiful write, for a beautiful animal. I love horses. i started riding when i was9. They are gentle.just let em see ya sweat...lol. thanks for posting.
