Witches Tears

Contributed by gwenevere on Friday, 1st July 2005 @ 12:38:26 PM in AEST
Topic: fantasy

What is that noise, what can I hear?
It echoes round, first far, then near
The mountains tremble with the sound
The animals all run underground

A river of water rushes by
Yet not a raincloud in the sky
It comes from deep inside the wood
I'd go and look there, if I could

But in the wood there lives a witch
A woman with an evil twitch
She has the spells to say a verse
That will surround you with a curse

A little doe stands by a tree
He lifts his head and looks at me
Please help the lady, he implores
Into the silence, between roars

Very slowly, I walk in
Move towards that awful din
Where it comes from,I know not
Then I find the very spot

A lady, old, sits by the fire
Noise of wails gets even higher
What is it witch, what can I do ?
What is it makes you feel so blue

She lifts her face and wipes a tear
I've cast these spells for many a year
But I am sad and all alone
No one dares come near my home

Come on now witch, please don't be sad
Being good is not so bad
Helping others is the key
Raise a smile and you'll be free

She lifts her head and smiles at me
A fairy flies out from a tree
She kisses lady on the hand
And sprinkles her with grains of sand

A puff of smoke and there she stands
Beauty queen of fairyland
In a forest, not a wood
No more evil, only good

Wonderful you too have found sympathy with a poor witch. In my stories I have to make them evil but inone of mypoems I have written a tribute to those poor old ladies that go out into the woods looking for roots and herbs ,flowers etcetera. Lovely poem Ros greetings from bernard.
