Poor moon tied to the earth Forever destined to be attached Day after day, month after month Like a woman bound to her husband The moon has no freewill Sometimes shining, sometimes not Our symbol of enlightenment is in perpetual servitude

Ah alas "...inconstant moon that monthly changes in her circled orb..." A beautiful dedication and in fact however she is breaking free slowly millennium by millennium having been much closer to us 4 billion years ago and probably in the next 100 million years may be free of Earth's orbit entirely. Your write captures the seeming stillness of her upon our collective awareness.
Well Done
Peace

Ha...I don't think I like the woman bound to her husband analogy...not true for me. Maybe th emoon is attached b/c it choses to be. :) Thought provoking... |

Pretty and sad. Although I wonder,
do I sense a hint of feminism,
or just the opposite?
Great write!

Wow, I've never thought of the moon in this way. I like how you take a different angle...normally the moon represents peace, enlightenment, tranquility etc, but here you portray the moon as if it's trapped in its role with no free will. What you say is true, but what I loved the most in this poem is the last line. True enlightened beings are always in perpetual servitude because they've realized that serving others actually serves oneself as well. And there is no thought of self with true enlightened beings...only the all encompassing Self...
Be True,
