Long ago and longer yet
a beast was born none could forget
and like a loathsome slug or snail
he left behind a slimy trail
which in a maze through forests dim
led heedless wonderers to him
and when he'd ask a riddle,they
would answer or become his prey
until his reign of terror ended
by dragonologists befriended
