Beauty Within

Contributed by Chamaron on Friday, 2nd January 2009 @ 02:22:44 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Went for a walk off a cliff one day,
So convinced death was the only way.
Somehow, I knew I just couldnt die,
I had to stay, but didnt know why.

I tried and I tried, all canceled out
I offered echoes to a canyon of doubt.
Took scissors to flesh to prove I could,
Regressed, but you knew I would.

Sobs from the child, returned broken
Its been years since shes spoken.
Feeling too much, scars ripped anew
Bleeding but alive when I found you.

You let me cry, said it was okay
Soon enough you wiped them away.
I knew the answers, had all along
Threw them down, mistaken for wrong.

Ready to jump to end this living,
You said I had something worth giving.
Something born with, I had still
Inalienable, even by reason or will.

Reached inside myself, thought devoid
Pulled out a heart that wasnt destroyed.
The mistakes and pain my life had been
Had not tarnished the beauty within.
