Over time absent she sits contemplating The curtains shift the light on the wind Seeing the rain sheet past, rising through the cracked pane The long unforgotten pastures of her childhood turn in and out of view Like a memory, that one cant lose and doesnt want.
I see her fading from now and touch her arm; I ask her and she nods but her eyes dont move From the splintered window her memories jump again. She shuts her eyes against the view and I see the tears come What can I say if I dont know her mind?
One time a light shone onto a dissembled wreck And I thought I saw a world on her palm Slowly turning as she sat and asked the answers, and I was hers But theres always one more question that begs a reply And so the glow began to fade, now she looks for light in me.
I used to think I knew, but my arrogance left me As her family did, and now I am as unsure as fear. People ask me-truly do I love her? And I always answer the same-Yes. For the sun in her eyes; and the wind through her hair; And the kiss from her lips like the morning.
