I'm sick of being pulled at, When you have nowhere else to turn, I want to be loved for who I am, I dont want to be someone's fun, I'm sick of being dependable, A friend to everyone, I just want to be treated, The way I'd treat anyone. I'm the one who's always invited, When there's no one else who'll go, I'm just a part time friend to you, The girl who always shows, But if you really like me, Is something I will never truly know... 'Cause I'm just the back-up girl...

I so wanted this angry piece to turn steamy with your title.. and instead you have this shiny little read gem of self expression now so many years later i wonder if this works for you in realization of your own advances and growth. Please feel free to pm...
Peace

Wow, how many of us have been that person who is not really a friend yet there as the back up. So true, so true. Funny, I found myself wanting to add one line to the end. the one in the back row. Don't know why, it just materialized into my head. I think your stuff is inspiring. I still remember reading one of your poems and then I wrote Shadow Dancer. Sorry, I cannot remember which one it was.
Oh, and you are sooo not the Back Up Girl.
Take care,
Tim |
