The fear is here again,
Voicing itself in the quiet of lonely nights,
Climbing on my back,
Weighing me down with worry.
You are beautiful and you are true
But the doubt sets in,
Plants its seeds
And anchors its roots
Deep in the burrows of my heart.
Because
My past does not bode well
For the future of us.
Just as I am beginning to trust
The same old tune resonates,
A broken record
Or groove I'm stuck in.
My life repeats itself
Over and over
And my heart breaks.
Yes, I know you are beautiful and you are true
But it's here again...
The fear of you
Falling out of love with me
The more I am falling in.
