Shattered Into You

Contributed by Silent-No-More on Saturday, 22nd May 2004 @ 11:15:42 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

She had stopped singing by then
The candles no longer burned, when
We started shifting, changing
Silently feelings were rearranging

I did not see it - I was blind
I couldnt see past this heart of mine
Dreaming wide open, wishing long
Hearing still the absent song

I tried so hard to let it go
Fearing that I would hurt you so
So I drank you away a time or two
But still wound up next to you

I was falling into deep expanse
Wanting then to take the chance
Turning around, ready to leap
Lost in dreams whilst you sleep

She had stopped singing by then
The candles no longer burned, when
The words began to twist around
Our separate answers were found

You didnt see - you were blind
Hanging on those words of mine
You thought that concern was feigned
That lies and secrets had reigned

You soon began to let it go
Thinking that I would want it so
For you then a resolution came
No more would it be the same

Moving yourself away from me
Letting go of the possibility
You finally gave up on me, and
Sadly you let go my hand

She had stopped singing by then,
The candles no longer burned, when
You said that we were through
And I shattered into you.

Such a brilliantly written poem, Snem. You take the reader through a facet of your life with wonderful metaphors and imagery.

I am highly impressed.

I love every line of this poem but I must say, my favortie line is "And I – shattered into you" and my favorite phrase is "Dreaming wide open". I think I can really relate to that dreaming wide open.

Thank you very much for sharing this.
