A Negation of Trees

Undrawn between the leaves is the nothing which makes our something-trees to flower;
and in that nothing is the root of our obscure suffering, and we laugh
at the pretense of it, that it might shade us the condescension in it
(that it might have been).
As a child, I remember first learning of empty, or negative, space:
and I remember the forest as without colors
(of the sort that I could see).
My suffering was the falling of leaves I could always see
and yet denied (when the obvious was beyond me, and nothing, the sap of my imagination).

Undrawn between the leaves
is the nothing which makes our
something-trees to flower;
I have had to come back to this after my first read just because I wanted to let it settle. Wonderful undertaking here- and certainly cause for great introspection. The things we don't see...
i love this.

Wow! This is a poem that can be read over and over and over again. Each time I have read this, I have noticed something new, but I still feel like I haven't fully absorbed this yet. Great description, great imagination. I love talks of nothings, all while speaking everything. And like those talks, this poem encompasses both everything and nothing. I loved it. |
