Cold, rainy days...

Contributed by FleurdeSang on Wednesday, 18th August 2004 @ 03:23:33 PM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

Your skies are dark and menacing today, Lord
Rain still hasnt fallen on my window,
My only source of viewing, perceiving this now tempestuous world of yours
The clouds swirl forebodingly,
Their black faces contort into hideous images of my nightmares
I turn my head away in fear of falling, once again, into Their grasp
Darkness floods my room,
This eternal confinement of mine
The sun is gone forever,
My only source of light
Paranoia and fear ruptures in me,
Forcing me to turn on all the lamplights,
Still, horribly still darkness victors once again
Go figure
I look through my window once more,
Surprised to find a droplet of water sitting quietly, watching me intently
Then another, and another
Soon enough, blankets of heavy, dagger-like rain envelopes the world
Cold.
Bare.
Dreary.
Such is my life and my heart
Revealed and stripped naked to be taken and torn again
It has begun
A day,
More like a lifetime,
Of harsh depression,
Merciless pain and sorrow
I havent felt this dreadful in a long time
My hope slips slowly from my grasp
But my faith in You, my Lord in Heaven,
Still shines brilliantly
I ask for guidance, for strength, for hope,
From You, Heavenly Father,
So I may live another day
Death, cold and arid, lingers in my mind, my palace
But I dont want it!
I want to live!
However, I deny myself slightly
So I pray more fiercely to You,
Hoping that You will rid me of these thoughts
Ive learned that my prayers arent answered right away,
And that my answers arent always what I want
But that is how life works
And how HE works
In very, VERY mysterious ways
Everyday I learn something new about You, Lord,
And myself
And I am eternally grateful for that
So, I will wait for Your reply, God,
And hope the next day to be bright and full of Your love
Thank you, Lord, my God in Heaven

That was fantastic !! Regardless of where you are ... you DO know where you are going. Keep your focus on the End of the journey, but take time to enjoy the scenery along the way. Let yourself be filled with wonder. Much still lies ahead.
" ... a droplet of water sitting quietly, watching me intently " I really liked this image !!

A very powerful poem, yet more then that... a statement about your life. The message was had powerful impact, as it was very dramatic. It appeared very genuine as well. It appears you have hope through faith; and that is your strength. Very impressive.

Wow, again, I am amazed by your poetry. I love your style. You truly express yourself in all of your poems. But I don't want to repeat myself, from what I have told you from other comments of your poems. I loved this poem, and here, I have pointed out some lines that felt true for me.

Cold.
Bare.
Dreary.
Such is my life and my heart…
Revealed and stripped naked to be taken and torn again…

These lines represent how you feel. Utterly broken. But what you express in the wholeness of your poem is a feeling of gratefulness, acceptance, and love. For example....

I’ve learned that my prayers aren’t answered right away,
And that my answers aren’t always what I want…
But that is how life works…
And how HE works…
In very, VERY mysterious ways…
Everyday I learn something new about You, Lord,
And myself…
And I am eternally grateful for that…
So, I will wait for Your reply, God,
And hope the next day to be bright and full of Your love…
Thank you, Lord, my God in Heaven…

That, my friend, is beautiful. In this poem you have fully expressed life itself. And what I mean is that you express your depression and sadness, but at the same time you express your faith in God, and your understanding that God has a plan that sometimes we cannot understand. A plan that brings us pain, but also is exactly what we need to experience. And you are grateful for that, despite your suffering. Keep this attitude. It will help you along your journey. For the only way to live truly is to accept the path that God has laid before us, and to be grateful for it. This is how I try to live, and you have shown that this is also how your try to live. Thank you for writing. You are True.

As always,
Be True,
zenmind
