There are the lava poets- hot and angry. Melting every thought burning every emotion calling out corruption and political thickness. Feminists and Activists. One way or no way. These poets are not depressed they are Narcissistic.
There are the Marilyn Monroe tornado poets- they rob images of their colors they chew them through and through and spit them out as morbid words with little sense and some meaning. They confuse but amaze with lipsticks and dildos. These poets are usually women and they are usually Borderline.
There are the hail poets- their poems are precise completely scientific, straight and to the point like cold, hard hail. Structure, science and order are triplets inside their verses. These poets are usually men and some are Obsessive Compulsive.
There are the sunshine poets- who marry nature each morning and slaughter words on her alter. They usually thrill with their pansy odes the first time around. These poets are Dependent.
There are the street snow poets- who write about the slums of city life about materialistic objects cigarettes and hookers these poets paint the world with smoked gray colors and a dirty paint brush. These poets are usually Anti-social.
There are the warm wind poets- who cling to spirituality and God. Their poems are prayers, and promises to Christ. Devotion to the skies and not to art. These poets are usually Paranoid.
Then there are the Neanderthal poets- Clichs sprawled on cave walls, no depth but violence and obscure sexuality. Nave blunt confidence and no intellect. No appreciation for the great writers and lack of self criticism. These poets are usually Dumb.

i think you've made some very interesting insights here but i have two issues to raise:
1. you haven't listed every type of poet i have encountered
2. i think it is a shame that you have labelled everyone so negatively. i thought poets were meant to be open-minded?.... |

I wrote this truly out of bordom. Dont take it too much to heart, most of my poems are quite absurd. This is not necessarily the only way I view poets, no, but i do stereotype them in my head smoetimes. I took whats in my head and exagerrated and blew it up.
i am borderline tornado btw ;) |

This is fun.
It was fun for me to read, as I'm sure it was fun for you to write. I like that you wrote this.
Mostly because it is an example that you can write about anything, at any time. A lot of poeple only write when they are depressed. Or when they are happy, (Yay! :-
hahaha
..............
That is a limiting approach. I like to write when I don't have anything to say. When I'm not experiencing intense emotions. And then I can let myself write about the speck of dust on the kitchen tile. Anything. And that's when we can discover what kind of writers we really are.
I am also a borderline tornado poet.........but I am a man.......so I guess I'm an exception to the rule.
I love exceptions.
Be True,
