I Wear the Mask

Contributed by shy_band_geek on Sunday, 16th January 2005 @ 01:44:42 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I wear a mask that only has a smile;
It hides my feelings and shades my tears.
The pain that I hide is the cause of a broken heart.
My heart torn and broken, yet I try to show a smile;
As I hide my feelings from the world, behind my mask.

Why should I be shy and hide what I have to say?
I show my tears of loneliness
and yet,
I only let people see me while,
I wear the mask.

I force a smile, but I feel like crying.
My loneliness overcomes me,
but I am forced to ignore it.
My heart shows a troubled life;
But the world only see's my fake smile.

So i hide behind my mask.

a good write I guess, but the idea is old and has been used over and over.. crying on the inside, a mask painted on the outside..Ponjenello.. showing a mask to the world.. the weeping clown.. it's just me, it seems we write about it over and over and over.. sometimes I wonder if all of the ideas have been used and nothing is original.. every idea I have seems like it's been used a million times..(walks away weeping.)

not really original. you need not hide whats on the inside, because when it comes to light, it becomes right. (talk about lame poetic thoughts, but true ones)

Great job. You expressed yourself well. I think we all wear masks, and so everyone can relate to this. However, when we are willing to just be ourselves, and take off our masks......this can be a liberating experience, because more often than not, people will respect you for showing the courage to take off your mask and show yourself for who you really are, which might be in a very hurt, vulnerable, and exposed way. It is frightening doing this, because we are being as real as possible, naked in a way, but I think it is what we all need to do.

Be True,
zenmind
