The Beast

Topic: DarkPoetry

My mind is yet unknown to you
But my prescence do you feel
Soon I will burst into your world
One day soon I'll be real

I hover within your reason
Drawing power from your fears
I feel hate within your silence
I feel anger in your tears

I wait with fearsome patience
And prejudicial scorn
Until the time I am released
and reason's tether torn

Your thirsty eyes betray your hate
But do not misconstrue
Before I kill your enemies
You know I'll come for you

I am the beast within your soul
You can hear my whispers now
Growing ever more impatient
Growing holier than thou

Why do you pull against my will?
You brought me to this place
You can't pull back, its too late now
You brought yourself from grace

I kill, I rape, I desecrate
I do this in your name
Your voice is just an echo now
Sit back, enjoy the game

...

Suddenly, quietly, you wake
And realise where you are
No beasts, no fear, no tragedy
Not here, not near, not far

You relax your nervous tension
And trust your thoughts to fate
For you cannot see, nor hear, nor feel
The beast that lies in wait
