Family Values are so much extolled, In many a land, and in the Common Wealth,. They rang as Number One in cultures old, And did define a peoples moral health.
But Jesus came and deemed them differently, "Sit Loose to home, to clan and forebear's land"- "He is a madman said the Family,- "Go take Him home" - sneered the Establishment.
Symbols of Jewish world-view held enshrined, Temple, Land, Sabbath, Torah, Food Taboos, And family and codes that firmly bind To tribe and clan - but Jesus said" "Sit loose~"
"Sit loose to worldly goods and property- Depend not on the many codes you learned, No ill in them - but lo! redundancy"- A world view was now being overturned.
He never came to abrogate, amend, But came to radically redefine The values and the world-view entertained, And flouted hard-nosed boundaries and line.
Perhaps the blessed Lord had empathy With all the many that have been denied A caring home, and loving family And full of love set all their set-backs right
No prophet finds due honor, Jesus speaks In his own house amongst his family, But let him seek mongst Romans, Picts or Greeks To well confirm his claims validity.
My mother, brothers, and my sisters are Hear ye! - all those do my Fathers will, And if they do, they are my family He rendered thus their definitions nil.
The listeners to this speech, stunned and aghast, So strange a wisdom that now people learned, Lo! Jesus with one single verbal blast Had all their cherished values overturned.
How jolting, - if you Mark or Mathew read, He called established values Temporal- His well-known sayings,- arduous to heed, All must have sounded controversial.
Redefinition threatened zealous Code, Although it drew the promised Kingdom near, But it broke in, - in unexpected mode, That vexed and vexes still the wax-clogged ear.

Elizabeth people today still do not know what Jesus was talking about. There is nothing on this Earth that one can take with them when one has to leave. The treasures of faith will through ones ghost, Soul, remain these are the rewards that Jesus was talking about in his speeches to the folk of Israel. We alas still do not heed those words spoken so long ago. It is the love and care that will show not the treasures of this world that we have piled up in our lifetimes.
Danke elizabeth für dieser kleine gedicht meine augen sind ofen wieder, Gott segne dich von Martha und Bernard. |

Bravo Elizabeth
~
I expecially liked:
My mother, brothers and my sisters are
Hear ye!- all those do my Fathers will
and if they do they are my family
He rendered thus their definitions nil.
Doing and living in my Fathers will...
in Gods family...wonderful!
Thanks for submitting this I needed to hear and read this...
cheers ~

Odd .. Jesus went by not the letter of the law .. but by love.. and even though the demons know God's law and name .. what good does it do them ? The bible says the demons know all about God and they shudder ... spouting his name and his law .. yet .. turning it around to suit their own works .. which they practice in the dark..
Jesus said we should be as young children .. how exactly are children? innocent I think..
your write makes me think .. gives me pause .. |

This is an excellent sharing of importance. Family to me are those who follow the Father Spirit and come to the aid of brothers and sisters and his name, The great Indian spirit has taught us that from birth. No matter what indiscretions are heaped upon you, you push it aside and stay in the steps of the Great Spirit. When we go to him we go only as the spirit that was inside us. We take nothing but our spiritual love. Thank you so much for posting this piece of him for maybe others might understand and begin to walk in the footsteps he laid down. Blessings. Rita |

Astounding. Your God blessed mind is capable of amazing insight. You are my hero poet. Here, in this poem is more wisdom than can be found academia. Amazing poem: maybe your best. What a joy. Christ's Godhood majesticly displayed. "Never a man spake like this Man ", " what the Pharasees say, do, but not after their works, etc". Thank you Liz; for being here. |
