My Old Friend

Contributed by deadheadpoet on Wednesday, 12th October 2005 @ 02:47:52 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

It has been calling to me
starting slowly
seeping
weeping
getting to me
under my skin
whispering behind me
in restrained screams

It has dreams as well
now neglected
coming apart at its' seams
it would seem
begging,
I sense....I feel
for attention
like an unwanted child
with face dirty
hair unkempt
tattered clothes

You see it as death and darkness
how sad for you
it did once cause me pain too...
Now I see it only as life and light
wanting to be loved again
made....
right

Buffed and shined
clean and refined
you will smile again
children will laugh and play
within your walls
families will gather in joyous times

I can see no one else here
She loved you.....she died here
I can not
I shall not
let you go
my old friend

Lost our kinship for years
understand please
we both have shed our share
of tears
I promise you love
you will breathe
the sweet aroma of life
and be cared once again

My old friend.
