Straight through me

Contributed by lostinmyself on Thursday, 13th July 2006 @ 08:38:08 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

I'm forever just a passing thought,
The last of breath on people's lips,
There's not a whisper spared for grief,
Beneath your gaze, I don't exist.

Yet soon your eyes will linger long,
Inquire through the exposed air,
For when in need of love and truth,
You suddenly will need me there.

'Til once again the smile blooms,
When slowly you will turn away,
Dismissed I'll be by hollow thanks,
To be called again, another day.

A fool, I wait for you too see,
That even now I'm standing there,
And while you're looking straight through me,

I'm waiting for you to show you care.

Awww Phil. This piece slapped me hard and made me cry. So bittersweet. Beautiful write, but so darn sad. Makes me feel bad after yesterday.
Peace, Laura

"Ever feel like you are only wanted when you are needed?

Yep, definitely where certain people are concerned.

Gosh, Phyllis, truer words are rarely spoken like this. I so relate to this sad write. But as always, you have taken something that is painfully sad and made a beautiful poem out of it.

I applaud thee! ! !

Thank you for sharing these thoughts in such a brilliant way.

Tim

Inquire through the exposed air,
For when in need of love and truth,
You suddenly will need me there.

Then there are those who are intelligent enough to see, for all that you are is love and truth. RL

So sad, yet so gentle.
and yes I will remind you, not everyone is like that. They certainly wouldn't be if only they would look, and see your incredibly gentle soul.

A sad but beautiful write. What is more painful then loving someone deeply who does not care for you with the same depth of feeling. Especially if the person is only vested in using you for his own selfish needs.

Thanks for sharing, Philly

Will

I am beginning to feel a lot like the emotions of your poem herein lately. The feel of being taken for granted and of being used and ignored. My motivations and tales are different of course mine being a touch of office politics. But I do feel a kinship in feelings with this here your write. Sometimes it does hurt to feel that you are only wanted when you are needed and discarded when not. Your efforts, sacrifices and dedication sidelined for whenever reason now that your time has passed. Kept on a leash only to be called upon at times and what not. I guess it is all about appreciation. Sometimes you are just not appreciated. Enough about my story. An emotionally charged write I would say. A sad but skillful depiction of the feel, hopefulness and helplessness of being left on the sidelines. Waiting for that appreciation to come while they only look straight through you.

You are NOT a passing thought, but on the contrary;
someone who's willing to sacrifice themselves for the betterment of others - that is admirable to say the very least..
..don't fret on that final line Phil.. you are most appreciated~

Sincerely~

Billy

Sweetie ... this pieces so wrought with pain and torture,
fills my heart with much sadness. I am so sorry that
you have to feel even one INSTANT of doubt. Damn
the accursed feeling heart in times like this. You have
many who appreciate and love you.
This you know ...

*hugs you tightly tons*
