Under The Hollow Tree

Contributed by bluestars on Tuesday, 16th December 2008 @ 12:32:34 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

It was a dark and stormy night,

just like any other night

around this time of year.

Under the hollow,

there she sat

she had on the same purple dress,

and her make up was a mess

but what can you expect

for she had been sitting

under this hollow tree,

for it seemed like a century.

Everyone murmured about her fate,

and thought that it was much too late

for her to keep on waiting

for that one mate.

Yes, its true he wrote her letters

that stated his return

but that was so long ago...

No one could make her see,

and somehow she knew

she was going crazy.

But, she will keep on waiting

for his return,

wearing that purple dress,

and her make up all a mess...

Its a dark and stormy night,

under this hollow tree.

Haunting and beautiful all wrapped into one voice.
This is incredible, just the type of poem I enjoy indeed.

Nice work, i like the way you implement the time factor. I could almost feel her pain caused by the time that has passed. I could almost see insanity lurking in to her.

Keep up the good work

A nicely written piece full off haunting, painful imagery. The sadness lingers within ones soul upon completion of the read.

Peace
