I lay beneath the lance leaves, Enjoying the dark they give From the gentle summer sun, I inhale the dense mist That hovers over the clear lake Beside me, As my eyes begin to flutter Into a deep slumber A voice travels the wind And invades my ears, A soft laugh echoing Beside me, I see her in the distance, Shrouded in the blankets Of the willow trees, Dancing ever closer Her voice so paralyzing Beside me, As the willows lift their veil I see her in her transparent dress, It twirls around her body Taunting me with its revelations, My heart hammers, longing her Beside me, As the prisoner in my chest Tries to break free She falls beside me, Her pale body touching mine And her eyes gazing Through me, My eyes blur From the coming tears, She brushes my cheek With her winter touch And presses her lips to mine Enchanting me, I try to speak But the wind captivates her, Sweeping her up into its arms It carries her toward the lake, Her stare disappearing into the mist Away from me, My heart burns, My eyes flood, For long ago She fled life And became a memory Beside me
