Ode to a Marriage

LoveRemembered

I think that Ill remember love, as witnessed by my eyes. Whilst sat in a conservatory alight with radiant sky.
I think that Ill remember giving ear to their advice. My grandfathers great aid could not be valued with a price. The key to sixty years of marriage, promptly he did say, was a theory of genius: Let the woman have her way.
And I shall not forget the words my grandmother spoke clearly, whilst pouring tea within his cup, and sweetening it dearly. She told me with an air of grace, whilst stuffing me with myriad cakes: For marriage hard as diamonds One must learn to give and take.
And as we sat and drank I watched them meet each others gazes. I saw between them, all of life, and all its wandering phases. I saw that they had navigated all of loves vast mazes. A sight to leave the hardest men in deep, delirious dazes.
I think that Ill remember, how no words needed be spoken. A silence, and a jewel-like union, never to be broken.
So on this day of wonder may we raise our glasses tall. To sixty years of marriage, and a love that conquered all.
