Lifepoems

A die hard work-a-holic; Who now at last is free. Go forth, enjoy, and frolic; How hard can that life be?
Set adrift, without a script, a stage without a show. Untasked, unmasked, with none to seek me out for what I know.
No one is my master; Envied as I stay out here in my pasture; Paid to go away.
Theres no one here to play with. And I am left to be a who without a where or when. Perceived impatiently
For waltzing in a sea of frantic dancers on the floor. With only One to take me home when I can dance no more.

To some that would be the ideal life..whether of
retirement age or not. The way that I am seeing
things I am going to be working until I die. There
isnt going to be anything for me to retire with or for.
Very nice piece my friend. Thank you for giving me
something to dream about :)

There comes a time to be free.
Yes you were a work-a-holic and you just moved on to a different venue. Now you work and play hard.
Your time is yours and that is well deserved. You/'/re not out to pasture but now self employed... God bless you.
Great writing my friend!!!! |

Profound and heartfelt. You’ve done a great job at portraying a phenomenon that young adults like myself can hardly wrap their heads around. Freedom isn’t always liberating and this is something to take into consideration as time goes by. A beautiful poetic work. Take care and God bless,

// There are some really great lines in this poem but I am especially fond of this one: //. And I am left to be a who without a where or when. //
You really are a genius!
"Paid to go away." 🤔 That ignited some sadness in me and made me think.
Seize the day, Jaye. Seize the day.

Ya know my friend, I actually loved this. I recently retired myself and have dared to think the thoughts you have so excellently penned here. Retirement is the end of one life but the beginning of a new , if shorter lasting, one. Personally I refuse to be depressed about the former and choose to be damn excited about the latter. Lol
Barkeep! A drink for my friend and keep /'/em coming!
Very well done

this is kind of sad,
finally free of the machine
but the new found freedom
is haunted by the ol routine
you will be fine
as you flow into the waltz
dancing smoothly.... |

I work hard and often think about retirement, but I am still far too young, only sixty.
Today, in a crowded store I sat patiently behind
an older women. She joked about the liqour sitting
not the shelf, saying they should have a small bar,
where you can pull up a stool and have a taste.
We laughed, it turns out she retired three years ago at the age of 79, she must be doing something right.
I don/'/t work hard, I think. I play hard however. What some people call work, I think of as play.
Oliver Wendell Holmes said, a long long time
before I was ever born.
Peace!
