Were trying to replicate ourselves with modern automation.
Buiilding robots , playing God, toying with creation.
Who shall rule them, who enforce; and what shall robots be?
Housekeepers or warriors for all eternity?
Shall they vote, hold office, replicate at will?
Shall they fight our wars for us? Shall we let them kill?
Will they protect our children, provide the things we crave?
Do our chores and run our homes, as automated slaves?
Shall they think, and never rest, and all our secrets keep?
And what will they be up to while we are fast sleep?
Wholl decide what they should know; and how long they survive?
Can we turn them on and off, or shall they be alive?
Will they live among us, or live among themselves?
If they become defective; how are we to tell?
Shall they own their destiny? Or will they not be free.
And if they are like humankind; what then shall we be?
We need to find the answers; we cannot just assume;
A robots not a toaster that can walk across a room.
Were toying with our destiny; defying self reliance;
Building a society that one day will deny us.

//Excellent poem, Jaye!!! So many images filled my mind due to your great writing. Also made me think of the movie I, Robot, the TV show Battlestar Galactica (2004), and the TV show Caprica (prequel to the afore mentioned Battlestar). They all cover these questions and topic.
Yep, right on board with this one.
Thank you!

I thought of I Robot as Tim did, but I also just watched the latest episode of the Orville ( yeah, kinda cheesy, I know) They are trapped on a planet where the robots have killed off the billions of humans that created them because they perceived them as a threat. The stuff of nightmares... |

Excellent piece.
We have become slaves to our creations
countless times over. The telephone, the
automobile, the television, the internet.....
Everything that we have created to make our
lives easier has become one of our many
addictions. In other words we have become
slaves to our creations. The same thing will
happen after robots have been perfected.
Every time that humans have played God it has
backfired...sometimes catastrophically.

robots are macros that do what you would,
first you write a script, and then you tell the script what
to do...
Dites Moi
The big ones are battle ships, and um,
the little ones are destroyers, they/'/re moving out
you see, because, there/'/s been a big change.
A Cockeyed Optimist
so they should stop they, really should,
stop, those robot.
that pass as a cockeyed optimist
appearing as though they have my same kind
of intelligence, as if they could somehow share
what it is I think, just what I see, and all that
I may someday love.
those bots that could think they could
write poetry --- well maybe they could
write poetry better than I
one day, would they, could they,
relate to a degree as nearly
as I
maybe they already have
but I just wont every care
you see, I am a robot myself
I just met a robot on Some Enchanted
Evening,
that robot became everything to me.
Or at least I thought.
Peace
