safe haven

swing set rusted out in back
flying ants on the side yard
empty clothesline in the wind
a single mother's life was hard
a red car in the drive
pea rock on the ground
blanket full of dollies
freedom beneath the tree was sound
freshly cut mower grass
a run around the block
mosquitos came in swarms
the key's under the rock
a room full of yellow furniture
a screen door hung in care
kitty cat on a leash
bumblebee come to his lair
lip synching on the old victrola
with a tin foil microphone
dressed up to the nines
some wild outfit on loan
old cement slab for the stage
hens and chicks in the front
riding the three speed for hours
goin' on a drama hunt
wild garage sale hand me downs
so many sizes too small
rick rack sewn on the bottom hems
curse of growing tall
a pose in summer delight here
one unhappy day there
a blue dress began her day
the men with the corsages, beware
a vast expanse of memories
amazingly more good than bad
shoulda never left the place
could of hidden all the sad
the mama who once lived there is gone now
so's the little girl from that lane
all that's left is a shell of a house
the keeper of the pain

Oh the pictures you paint in the mind. It was like watching a movie or slides of ones life. A very unique, one of a kind poem. Kie
