In The Blink Of An Eye... One Brief Moment In Time

Contributed by kidpoet_213 on Tuesday, 23rd March 2004 @ 07:48:44 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Since we've gone our separate ways
Life for me has not been the same
The loneliness... the sadness... the despair
Now rules my life... my every care
My days are filled with staring into space
As the happy moments roll... before my face
Reliving what we had...
My memories are now living in the past
In the blink of an eye... one moment in time

Sadly... I felt your love for me die
As it floated away on the angry winds of strife
Gone...
In the blink of an eye... one brief moment in time

Lord... I wish I could go back...
Take back every angry word ever spoken
Every misdeed ever done
But those moments... have come... have gone
In the blink of an eye... one brief moment in time

I still love you so...
This you must know
You're in my thoughts... you're in my dreams
Both day and night... anywhere in between
My only wish... is to have you back in my life again
I'm sorry for all that was done... that was said
I pray... you'll forgive me... one day soon
If only... in the blink of an eye...
For... one brief moment in time

Life's too short... to go on without you in my life
I'm scared...
But scared of what?
Living? Dying? Loving you?
I don't know what to do...
With all my memories of you?
I guess... I'm afraid...
Afraid... I'll never find anyone to love again...
Afraid... they'll love me... then leave me too
In the blink of an eye... one brief moment in time

repeating themes of hearbreak gets to be numbing, but nevertheless this is lovely writing... ;0)

I disagree with remi. This is a very well written piece and the repeated phrase only emphasize it that for one brief moment... if we were allowed, it would change everything.
Excellent work.

I think that repeating the main subject is sometimes not needed.. but in your situation you did a good job in corresponding it all together.. i know exactly what you are talking about.. it tells a story all on its own .. you worded it to the best of your ability and the rest took hold.. thats the true test right there.. outstanding work..
keep up the good work!!

I think that you did an excellent job here. It is not easy writing this kind of piece if you have not lived it. If you have, you realize every emotion penned. Good work here.

Nice. The love, frustration and regret shone.
