I the fool

Contributed by Levi on Tuesday, 23rd March 2004 @ 08:32:54 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Into the air of Spring I step
I faulter and halt, and take a breath
The air is sweet and calm and cool
The breath of life, and I the fool

Death came quickly
Without halt or retreat
Covering life in a blanket so sweet
White death so cool and sweet

It was folly to wish for it
It was wrong to embrace it
For I knew not what it was
I knew not of the life beneath it

Life preserved, and yet decayed
Life giving up life
Yet in death
Flowers it made

A paradox
A contradiction
A statement so false
That it is true

I did not look to the life
I did not seek the beauty
I did not seek any of it.
I let it die, and its death, embraced

I stand in the beginning of spring
Death is dying
Life is living
And I the fool
