The Beauty I Saw

Contributed by Justalady on Tuesday, 27th April 2004 @ 08:51:05 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I stood on the shore and watched an ocean wave,
wash gently onto the shifting sand at my feet.
It was warm and moving, a sense of pleasure it gave,
as I bent to touch the wetness, my heart skipped a beat.

I thought of the vastness, the horizon way out there,
and emotion welled deep, to see such beauty in plain sight.
The only thing missing...was someone to share,
the warmth of an ocean mist, on such a lovely night.

The sand was warm, damp to my lingering touch,
the moon moved slowly, my eyes watched long,
as the sky filled with light, I wondered how much
could one heart hold back from a lover's song.

The dream stayed long into that magic night,
it gave a certain strength and hope that someday
the memory of it all would be like a bird in flight,
and return to me, if in the future a day turns gray.

A poem about a favoured subject of mine, written with grace and incisive beauty.
5 stars for you, June.
Very much enjoyed this one.
