How It Feels To Be Me

Contributed by MoonlitAngel on Thursday, 11th July 2002 @ 09:26:01 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

You may think you know me, but
You'll never know how it feels to be me
My head always so full with thoughts so deep
Sometimes it makes it impossible to speak
And sometimes I feel invisible to you
Makes me wonder if I'm real

Open your eyes and you'll see
All the mystery hidden inside me
I tell you, it hurts to feel unwanted
When you say it's gonna be a certain way
Why d'you always let it be a different way?
What you see is not what's real

Don't assume I'll be that way
Coz all I know is I'm not ready yet
You can't make me into someone I'm not
Don't push me, you'll just be pushing me away
Can't you see I'm just wishing my life away
But it's not enough to breathe

I just don't know what to do
There's nowhere to go, so why aren't you here?
I wonder if anyone will find me
If anyone knows me well enough to know
What I need from you is nothing you can give
But do you know what I mean?

How does it feel to be me?
It feels like constantly losing your mind
Like somehow just a song can set you free
Like never knowing who actually cares
It feels like never fitting in your own skin
That's how it feels to be me
