Love Still Remains

Contributed by Neil on Monday, 10th January 2005 @ 07:20:50 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

The wind blew cold from the shore of the lake
The car was packed with all she could take
She climbed in and started her trip back home
A trip she dreaded, being all alone

She was leaving the cabin, their vacation retreat
Built from the love he laid at her feet
And furnished with treasures they picked with care
Her favorite, a little glass teddy bear

That he bought on a business trip long ago
And gave to her one night when it snowed
'Cause he knew how she loved them and what it would mean
To love her and please her was always his dream

And it carried him out on the road one night
He had seen one in town that he knew would delight
As he came down the road to a dangerous curve
He lost control as the car made a swerve

A man came to the door later that night
She was missing him and filled with fright
And he told her the news that would break her in two
When they got to him, there was nothing they could do

Devastated, she dropped to her knees
And asked the Lord, "Why couldn't it be me?"
Then, a voice inside she had never heard
Spoke to her the most comforting words

"He loved you it's true, with all of his heart"
"And he never wanted to be apart"
"But he wants you to know that through all of the pain"
"He'll be with you, his love still remains".

Oh, that was a hard one to digest...maybe
because it was so well told.

well told, very moving.

nicely written, not over the top, the rhyming didn't seem to forced which is pretty hard to do when you have a specific tale to tell and no room to ad lib.

i liked this a lot.

keep it coming!!
