Worst Case Scenario

Contributed by Eve on Tuesday, 1st March 2005 @ 06:27:05 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

I can feel the memories
Heavy on the air here
They bring a wellspring to my eyes
I'm finally going into the world
To find the answers to all the whys.

but the times rearranged
and the words I never said
got left behind

-
I have been such a fool
Making so many mistakes
And now the air buzzes, every molecule
With the sound of that door slamming

my tongue is numb
with the shock of what I said
burning my eyes

-
I would do anything to feel you here
But all that's around me is broken glass
Recognition never sees me anymore
Every time you pass

and my body is tired
from being wracked by sorrow
day after lonely day

-
I've gone over each scenario
- Every. Single. One. -
I'm realizing that you just don't, can't exist
Because there is nothing I could have done.

This is, to invent a phrase (because originality deserves the same), devastatingly beautiful. While it's a bit of a departure from your usual style, it's done with such grace that it's as if an extension of your very soul.

Keep writing (or I WILL send Phil Collins after you)

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
