Forgiven Soul

Contributed by Kay-Kay on Tuesday, 5th April 2005 @ 03:19:35 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

I witnessed something today, a criminal was accepted above
He was inside of the church, praying and looking for love
His hands were folded tight, and tears were streaming down his face
I heard him ask God, why he was born to this hateful place

On his knees in the front, asking God for another chance
Thinking about his past, he takes a second glance
Seeing all the crime, and hateful things he's done
But now he understands, why at heaven's gates he's not number one

If he wouldn't have had that gun, especially on that day
Then he might not have thrown half of his life away
He has just gotten done, doing all of his time
He had 25 to life, after a horrible crime

He killed two innocent children, and their wonderful mother
The trial lasted a long time, with the upset and fighting brother
This man has kids back at home, but they don't know him
Ever since he went to prison, his light has been really dim

His loving wife is now depressed, because of the expensive bail
She wishes everyday, that her husband never went to jail
The both of them don't know how the kids will except their father
And now with that thought in mind, the both of them are bothered

Still sitting in the church, afraid of going home
Feeling that his kids won't love him, feeling so alone
But he knows that he has done a wrong, and he has paid the tole
He committed a crime and did his time, he is a forgiven soul

A very good poem, both the writing and the content. Not to be picky, but check your spelling.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
