First Love

Contributed by macmcgovern on Sunday, 26th September 2004 @ 09:23:38 PM in AEST
Topic: LoveRemembered

I remember it like it was yesterday,
I looked into her eyes,
she held my destiny,
she was mine alone,
for one full year,
when another came,
I was forced to share,
this wonderful woman,
I loved so dear

Eight more times,
I would relinquish my place,
Ten now in love,
with her beautiful face,
vying her affection,
in this love race

Allocating a love,
in a way only she could,
life wasn't always easy,
wooing this brood

Conflict and squabble,
not for the common good,
result in a bottom,
tenderized,
with a paddle of wood

It was a full time job,
feeding, clothing, cleaning,
schooling, these progeny,
everyone her special treasure
Considering the enormity,
of her life task,
she did much better,
than ten children could ask

If we put her on trial,
we all agree,
she would,
certainly be gulity,
of excessive love,
in the first degree

This loving woman,
who gave life to me,
She is my first love,
above all others,
my marvelous, sweet Mother

July 2004

This poem may not be an absolute reflection of the way it was, it is a reflection of the way I believe it was when I set aside the times of hardship and sacrifice. I would hope all sons and daughters put aside petty differences and make time for their marvelous, sweet Mother.
