Death of a romantic

Contributed by shortcut on Sunday, 19th March 2006 @ 10:21:14 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Cynical and cold
All alone and old
Sacrificed my life
Being a good wife
Cast out for another
Now a single mother
No desires no dreams
No yearnings no touch
The pain is too much
To recover to heal
No way no deal
To date to mate
No for me it’s too late
Life has lost it’s shine
My heart is not mine
Time does not cure
Make tainted again pure.

I could relate to this poem. You've written this well, I like the way you haven't wasted words. Short, bittersweet and to the point.

I too can relate,

many of us who suffer in this way tend to find other ways of coping,

I was also a single dad still am but there all gown up now.

I love writing and expressing how i feel in poetry and by helping others. i have a worldwide network of great friends. who I have met.

I feel you have a great gift of writing it shows here in your poem.

its NEVER too late.

God bless you

Dougnut. :-)

Well written you captured the reader immediately and drew them in. It's reality we hate to see so define and real. The rhyme scheme works for the poem breathing a chance of romance. Because if there was no rhyme there would be no magic..... Enjoyed this poem!
