Disconnected Connectivity

Contributed by Beyfoxman5 on Tuesday, 3rd May 2016 @ 03:41:09 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Get in my car after work
Exhausted, but so happy to be out from behind my desk and my computer

Put my fingers on the gearshift until

Receive a text from a good friend and

Respond with three texts of my own

immediately receive a Facebook message from a friend
Respond to it
And get an emoji in return

Drive all the while trying to memorize my next piece
That will immediately go down my iPad
Be copied, and pasted on every social media network that I am a part of

Get responses

ask myself

Will I

Ever see these people ?
Will they ever hear me ?

Am still alone

Nice poem Fox.
Just like the commercial of the intoxicated young lady dying at a bus stop. Yeah, she had a million Facebook friends. Didn/'/t do her any good.

Social media is more of a negative to many than a positive. Nice job here.

Tomorrow. Forget electricity. However far it may be: go into an empty field, touch the biggest tree, and the lie down. Let your eyes fall upon the /'/triviality/'/ of grass. There is a world there, and it doesn/'/t give a toss for social media. You/'/ll be surprised at the activity in such a small space, and it will still be there when Facebook is a distant memory.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
