Beautiful night to be lonely

Contributed by Vic on Thursday, 17th September 2020 @ 04:52:07 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

Been out of my head since the sun arose today
Needed a drink to put them thoughts away
Nobody I know can help me get over it
Everybody/'/s gone when I need that spirit

The waning golden moon is coming nicely along
It/'/s a beautiful night to be lonely and write a song

I never meant to pen a tune this way
Well it ain/'/t bad recording events of the day
The evening progressed into nothing better
I feel less of a singer and more of a fretter

The waning golden moon would look mighty fine with booze
It/'/s a beautiful night to be lonely and play the blues

You write like a beautiful, clever country song. My favorite lines were
"The evening progressed into nothing better
I feel less of a singer and more of a fretter"

Well done.

That third stanza was especially great and gave me a smile/giggle.
How many of these fantastic old writes do you have kicking around?
It can definitely be a lonely time of year made lonelier by everyone being busy/away. I like how you described the feeling in an authentic way while adding humour and solutions to make it through another day. Thank you.
