In joy I laugh and sorrow I cry
The emotions twain are not a lie
It took me a while /'/fore it struck me straight as spear
The thought that I could contain them both with a sneer
No need to jeer, no need to weep
Smile when you hurt the most, don/'/t frown as you sleep
In joy I cry and sorrow I laugh
Can/'/t seem to get past ninety nine and a half
Trouble and woe are like old friends dear
Behind happiness misery follows with a cheer
No need to jeer, no need to weep
Smile at your memory/'/s ghost, a piece of mind you/'/ll keep
No need to jeer, no need to weep
Smile from pillar to post before they lay you down deep
