If I Was Gone

If tomorrow I was gone
Would you fall and start to cry
Would you know it, would you feel it
All the pain deep inside
Would you remember the times
That we have spent together
Or even how we first met
And couldnt be forever
I remember it clearly
As time moved slow around me
I was sitting in the dark
And you brought your light before me
On that day the shadows fell
And I came out if the dark
To kneel before an angel
It was then I felt the spark
I t was you who lit the flame
Of the fire in my soul
And now its 5 years later
As it starts to take its toll
So I ask if I was gone
Could you see it in your eyes
Feel the anger feel the pain
Of all the love you hide inside
If today was all we had
To say whats on our minds
Would you tell me up front
Or just tell me a lie
For you may never know
When our time is up
Tomorrow may be gone
And today is not enough

| I always appreciate the skill of a rhyming poet. it's not my style (i'm more free-form), but i like the lyrical quality of this poem, and i think if i read it aloud (to my 10 month old), i would like it even more!! i hope you're not leaving, but i trust you will do whatever feels right. |
