One More Light

Contributed by MoonlitAngel on Sunday, 8th October 2017 @ 12:04:42 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

I wish I could`ve held you
could`ve been what you needed me to be
wish I didn`t break apart
but on the darkest nights you`re all I see

feel you when I close my eyes
no matter how alone I get, you`re here
I keep you next to my heart
so I can never forget that you`re near

I`ve never loved so fiercely
never been so close to anyone
your heartbeat pulsing with mine
a part of me I never could outrun

your memory stays with me
I picture your face so clear in my mind
did the best I could for you
but what I wanted to give you, I couldn`t find

soft breezes kissing my face
trees rooted so deep in this earth I roam
oceans crashing in my heart
one more light in the sky to guide me home

"Oceans crashing in my heart, One more light in the sky to guide me home"
Such evocative lines that bring this piece to a perfect end.
Loved the flow, the sentiment and the feeling of calm it gave me after reading
Well done

Steve
