Hate speach

Contributed by Bigj on Monday, 21st September 2020 @ 09:36:37 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Right versus left
Black versus white
Differences of opinions
A war on whose right

There are 1000 ways to be wrong
And just as many ways to be right
But we chose to believe in one
And to the death we fight

Let us all back away
And focus on the bigger picture
The poor is getting poorer
And the rich is getting richer

Let/'/s look at the tactics
The method to the madness
What system creates this hate
What systems create this sadness

Can we find events in history
When hatred would prevail
Has it happened before
Is it explained with detail

Many stories like ours
Are precursors to genocide
It starts out small
Then the differences magnified

Let/'/s look at Rwanda
Death in the masses
It didn/'/t erupt overnight
No gasoline or matches

Herders versus farmers
Same country of people
Occupations that differ
Created bloodshed and evil

It began with an occupation
1918 When Belgum took control
Determined one was civilized
Turning the other into a foe

Many decades later
The division began to grow
Many wars had been fought
In the rivers, the bodies would flow

Before the breakout of war
What ignited the event
It was the speech of hate
Over the radio waves it was sent

Not a newspaper in site
Very few had a tv
But radios owned to every ear
And the hate speech on repeat

"They are cockroaches" it stated
"They will kill us in our sleep"
Fictional events to create fear
And death would have his souls to reap

The division became so wide
It became death or survive
Genocide was the result
With few left alive

The voice behind the radio
Was not a man of the poor
But amongst the elite
And had more money than before

Times have changed
But the tactics have not
Manipulate the people
And wars will be fought

Who profits in these times
Within these United States
Who profits from division
Who is pandering this hate

Let/'/s take a look
How media has evolved
A man would stand on the corner
Hear ye hear ye he called

It began with word of mouth
Reaching those who were near
Only speaking to the locals
No competition to fear

Along came the paper press
"Read all about it" the new line
Taking the messege further
To the neighboring cities it would find

Every state wanted one
A paper of their own
Fighting for our attention
And this market has grown

But lies began to spread
Because outrage could sell
Let/'/s create a scandal
And profit from this hell

Advertisements came along
Paying for places on this paper
So we would see them daily
With hopes of purchasing later

Advertisement increases the money
And the media concocted a plan
Let/'/s fight for more of their attention
And people becoming the product, began

Since outrage keeps our attention
And our attention can be sold
To the highest bidding Advertisement we go
Our attention is now worth more than gold

Hate speech is selling
Faster than they can speak it
We all focus on it
And death is waiting to reap it

Two things profit
From this hate and divide
Death himself
And the media that provide

We need to shift our focus
Repair this divide
Before war breaks out
And its death or survive.
